About the Role
We’re looking for a talented Head of User Experience to help us make financial guidance and advice available to all.
As Head of User Experience at Wealth Wizards, you'll combine strategic leadership with hands on design work to deliver exceptional user experiences. You’ll be responsible for leading a team of design professionals, owning the Wealth Wealth Wizards design system and driving a customer centric agenda. We are a small fintech company so we'd also like you to get your hands dirty with design work to support the teams and enable us to innovate in our product design.
You and your team will work directly in cross functional product teams with product managers and engineers to design our digital products and journeys. You will also work alongside senior leaders from Product and Engineering to define and execute a UX and product design strategy, deliver to our product vision and embed effective ways of working.
Our design team is currently predominately outsourced, therefore you'll have the opportunity to build your in house team, working closely with existing contractors as you do so.
Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll:
- Be part of the Product leadership team
- Establish a talented in house design team incorporating user experience, design, user research and content design
- Take leadership of the design team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to ensure high quality designs are delivered that meet user needs and drive good customer outcomes
- Support the design team with planning, prioritising, and overseeing initiatives. Oversight of design quality ensuring high standards.
- Articulate and execute a design vision that aligns with Wealth Wizards strategic goals
- Work with Chief Product Officer, Head of Product and Head of Software Engineering to deliver our Product strategy
- Closely collaborate with cross-functional agile product teams to design user-friendly journeys based on real user needs, working in a highly effective designer, product manager and lead engineer trio on design problems.
- Ensure we build a connected and cohesive product set delivering an end to end user experience across a suite of solutions
- Lead and champion the design system and component library
- Be an advocate for the user, putting the customer at the centre of our product design to solve user problems, including embedding a culture and framework of user research to validate solutions to complex problems
- Work with your team to solve complex design problems, balancing user experience and driving good customer outcomes in a regulated industry.
- Communicate design decisions linking them to how we drive good customer and commercial outcomes, supported with data and insight.
- Establish and embed clear ways of working and best practice for design, research, prototyping and testing within cross functional teams.
About You
As Head of User Experience at Wealth Wizards you’re a core part of the product leadership team, responsible for designing exceptional user experiences.
When it comes to skills and experience, the ideal candidate would have:
- Leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing and coaching a design team and leading a design vision
- Experience working in a regulated industry - strongly preferred
- Strong grasp of various design processes, including iterative design (using wireframes or prototypes), journey mapping, design thinking, product design
- Extensive experience of creating exceptional digital experiences for users and communicating complex concepts to users
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly explain design decisions, give and receive constructive feedback and influence positive outcomes at all levels.
- Proven experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team, and in the end-to-end design process, taking complex projects from discovery through to delivery and ongoing improvement, including user research
- Experience working in an agile environment, and be comfortable with fast paced environments and conflicting priorities
- Willingness to adapt and change as we learn
- Pragmatic rather than purist in application of UX principles and frameworks
- Understand software design principles and collaboration with engineering
