BetterUp is currently seeking a Care Guide to support our members, guiding them through their experience using the BetterUp Care platform. This includes identifying and escalating members who may benefit from clinical services, as well as members who would like to connect to appropriate employer benefits resources, to our Tier 2 Care Guides. The right individual will bring strong communication skills, and interest in working with individuals experiencing physical and mental health challenges. We are looking for a candidate who has mental health awareness. The ideal candidate is responsive, compassionate, and has a passion for advancing the field of preventative mental well-being. This role is an opportunity to work alongside a diverse team of scientists, practitioners, designers, and operators in an innovative, inclusive, entrepreneurial environment.
What you’ll do:
- Be a first point of contact for BetterUp members and help orient members to the platform and direct them to the tools and resources they need
- Respond to BetterUp members identified as needing additional support, and triage these members internally as they receive access to clinical services and other benefits provided by BetterUp external partner ecosystem
- Work closely with the Care Guide Team Manager to assess and escalate members so they can be connected to appropriate resources and services
- Collaborate with all BetterUp Care Guides to escalate effectively to members in need of additional support
- Work alongside a diverse team of guides to provide support to members (flexible scheduling, including weekend and evening availability, required)
- Strong written and oral communication skills (fluency in English and one or more of the following languages: Japanese, Chinese, French, German, Russian, and Brazilian Portuguese ), and ability to quickly build and maintain rapport

- Pursuing studies or interested in a social work or counseling discipline (BA degree or higher preferred).
- Strong customer service skills and mindset, comfort working cross-functionally when needed
- Case management skills, and/or 1+ years of customer service experience with sensitive populations
- Crisis management and conflict de-escalation training is a plus
- Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable with ambiguity and change, experience working in a fast-paced startup environment a plus
- Organization skills and attention to detail to make sure that every issue is appropriately routed
