Backflip is seeking a Territory Sales Representative. The Territory Sales Representative is a vital role responsible for driving market awareness, community engagement, and revenue growth for Backflip in a dedicated geographic area. The Territory Sales Representative will act as the face of Backflip within the community, attending and hosting events, building relationships with local real estate entrepreneurs and partners, and generating new leads for the Account Executives to convert into closed deals.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, people-oriented professional who thrives in community-based roles and has a passion for building connections that help drive business results. While the Territory Sales Representative is not responsible for directly closing deals, they will be instrumental in driving the top of the sales funnel and supporting expanding Backflip’s market share.

This position is remote (U.S.) and a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor (~75 person team) working directly with senior leaders in a well-capitalized startup with a great culture (Check out our recently announced $15M Series A).

What You’ll Do:

  • Market Representation: Act as the local face of Backflip in the community, representing the brand at events, meetups, and other gatherings to build strong, lasting relationships with prospects and partners.
  • Event Hosting & Attendance: Host and attend local events, ranging from 1-on-1 coffee meetings to driving attendance at large community-hosted gatherings (in partnership with our community team), generating brand awareness and new high quality leads. Be present at all Backflip-hosted events in the assigned community.
  • Lead Generation: Identify and engage with prospective customers and partners in the local market through outreach efforts (social media, email, community engagement, etc.), working closely with AEs to generate new opportunities.
  • Community Building: Build and maintain a network of community "nodes" (influencers, community leaders, referral sources, etc.) to help grow Backflip’s local presence and drive engagement with the brand.
  • Partnership Development: Identify and foster relationships with local organizations, event hosts, and influencers to develop partnerships that can help Backflip expand its reach in the market.
  • KPIs & Performance: Focus on driving measurable results such as increasing new loan applications in the geo, deal closures, growing contact lists, increasing event attendance, etc.
  • Follow-up Strategies: Create and test personalized follow-up strategies for leads met in person at events, ensuring consistent touchpoints through calls, emails, and texts to drive loan applications from those who didn’t apply right away.
  • Conference Travel: Travel to larger conferences and industry events up to twice per quarter, representing Backflip and building connections with key prospects and partners.
  • Qualifications:

  • Sales/Lead Generation Mindset: 2+ years of experience in territory sales, sales development, or similar roles, with a strong focus on lead generation and growing a customer base. Comfort in working towards lead-based KPIs.
  • Community Engagement: 2+ years of experience in community development, networking, or event management. Ability to build rapport and trust quickly with diverse audiences.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, able to represent Backflip in public forums and build relationships.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work closely with Account Executives, the Community Team and other internal teams to align efforts and drive results.
  • Self-Starter: Highly motivated and proactive, able to work independently to drive community-based initiatives.
  • Local Market Knowledge: Having a deep understanding of the local real estate community, influencers, and business landscape is a plus.

  • Compensation for this role includes a base salary of $80,000 plus annual expected commissions of $50,000, for a total on-target earnings (OTE) of $130,000, and is based on a variety of factors including prior experience, geographic location, stock option grant, and other factors, and may fall outside of the stated range for certain candidates. In addition to a competitive market salary, Backflip employees receive equity stock options, paid health care, and a 401K + company match, among other industry-leading benefits.
