ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a talented Lead Copywriter to join our Team. You’ll be overseeing a team of mid-level and junior copywriters to develop and execute content for our portfolio of clients.

This role is responsible for the delivery of content for our clients, to encourage engagement, lead generation or sales. Being a native German speaker would be ideal with comparable skills in English. Armed with a strong copy background (having worked in an agency, on brand side or media/press), you’ll have experience in ideation, managing deadlines and deliverables, overseeing the content output for different clients and writing for a variety of different content formats. You’ll have a strong understanding of the distinct nuances of working with various content types and will be able to demonstrate a range of approaches to creating engaging content to maximize its opportunity for success. 

This is an opportunity to lead a team of talented copywriters, helping to collectively drive forward our overall approach to copy and content production. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, energetic person with the desire to shape a dynamic working environment and approach to collaborating with clients. Resource/task management and organizational skills are a must, as well as understanding what it takes to run a busy copy team. The ideal candidate will have an unrivaled ability to prioritize workload and deliver multiple projects at any given time.

 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Who will you work with? 

Reporting into the Managing Director for EU, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the copywriting and content team. You’ll also manage 5 copywriters (mid-level, junior), overseeing team members’ workloads, job satisfaction, training, development, career aspirations and goals. 

Your peers will be team leads and directors from other departments like media buying, design and web development. You will work closely with them to ensure our clients are served with the highest possible standard, delivering our promise of unique and cohesive, engaging and successful campaigns.

What does the role entail? 

Quite a bit, so we split up the aspects into primary and secondary responsibilities. Primary responsibilities are those that we expect to form a part of most of your weeks at 6H Agency in one way or another. Secondary responsibilities are still critical to the role but are by their nature carried out less often.

 

Content Strategy / Consulting: 

  • Primary
    • Designing effective content strategies for clients and prospects 

    • Aligning content ideas with the client’s pre-defined goals and targets 

  • Secondary
    • (e-)Meet with clients to discuss the strategy and results generated of different content angles

    • Participate in pitches, upselling and effective onboarding of new projects: eloquently and convincingly presenting concepts and ideas 

    • Help to refine and manage approaches and processes within the team to ensure the upmost efficiency 

 

Content Production: 

  • Primary:
    • Leading and inspiring a team of content creators and copywriters

    • Contribute new campaign ideas and suggestions, or ways of adding to or developing existing campaigns  

    • Researching, developing and checking all content, from on-page copy, articles and blogs to campaign content and data rich content pieces (in German and English)

    • Understanding brand and tone of voice. Applying these to all strategies and creative content 

    • Act as an advocate of content, being trusted and knowledgeable, within the department and the agency

  • Secondary:
    Work closely with the design team to ensure the creative direction is aligned and adhered to 
    • Using creative problem solving to find solutions to problems posed by tricky client briefs and competing priorities 

 

Team management: 

  • Primary
    • Have regular 1:1 meetings with your direct reports to discuss challenges, progress against goals and job satisfaction 

    • Run weekly team meetings 

    • Management by example: Provide support, guidance and feedback to the copywriters

  • Secondary
    • Set individual short and long-term goals for your team that take into account both the overall strategy for the agency and the individual goals and aspirations

    • Use time reports and client utilization stats to help you manage team workloads appropriately

    • Be aware of individual and team morale, welfare and concerns adapting your management style to different team dynamics

ADDITIONALLY...
  • You are fluent in German and English (additional language skills would be a plus)

  • You have exceptional skills in German spelling and grammar (and comparable skills in English)

  • You have already collected some relevant writing experience (ideally also leadership experience but NOT A MUST)
