The ChallengeRemote aims to provide customers with instant payroll calculations for their employees. Our goal is to create an experience where a customer can add a payment, click a button, and immediately view and schedule the payment.
In many countries, third-party payroll software is simply not available thats support the level of integration required to provide customers with a real-time payroll experience. To make this possible, we plan to build our own API-first in-house payroll engines.

The positionThis is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global employment space as our Senior Product Manager for Payroll Engines. You'll have a massive impact on our organisation and help create opportunities for millions of people around the world. This is a unique position where you'll be expected to start up a team, set a mission for your team and topic, work with contractors and internal experts to drive the mission forward autonomously, and deliver on our strategic goal to build an API-first payroll engines in our biggest markets.
What you bring- Experience as a product manager working on payroll systems and services in a multi-product, high-growth scale-up company preferably with country-specific expertise. (Country: UK, EMEA, US)
- Experience building API products and integrating complex 3rd party systems. Bonus points for payroll APIs and integrations
- Passionate about well-designed products that just work including API products with an amazing developer experience
- Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes and HR functions. Hands-on experience with payroll software and systems is preferred
- High proficiency in data manipulation (eg sql, excel, sheets)
- Great judgment-making strategic (what to prioritize) and tactical (feature scope) decisions
- Data-driven product manager with experience setting and tracking goals to achieve results
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, including across different departments (e.g. operations, business, sales, finance, etc.) to ensure that we are satisfying critical customer, business and operational requirements
- Business-level proficiency writing and speaking English.
