Founded in 2015, the Cadasta Foundation (Cadasta) is an award-winning, high-impact non-profit organization registered in the U.S. It is a leading technology and service provider supporting secure land and resource rights for a more sustainable and equitable planet. Cadasta creates high-impact partnerships with civil society and government agencies to provide technology, training, and technical support to help marginalized communities document and secure titles to their land, property, and resources, and to use the data for better decision-making regarding livelihoods, land use, climate, and community empowerment.
Over the last five years, Cadasta has grown to over 100 partners in 46 countries, who have used community-led approaches to document and strengthen the land rights of over six million people living on 21 million hectares of land in cities, farms, rangelands, and forests.
Cadasta seeks a full-time staff member to serve as a Proposal and Technical Writer. The Writer will support the Business Development, Communications, and Programs Units. They will work closely with the internal Cadasta team as well as external partners around the globe to conduct subject matter research, consult on project design, and ensure that written responses to funding opportunities are compliant and high-quality. This position requires initiative, attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and deadline-driven planning and organizational skills. The Writer will:
- Review and update boilerplate and case statement language as needed to improve proposal writing success and outcomes.
- Draft, update, and finalize compelling proposals documents, including letters of intent, concept notes, technical proposals, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with Cadasta staff to collect information, photos, stories, and metrics to support proposals.
- Work with the Finance Department to provide budget inputs based on technical proposals.
- Assemble information from disparate sources and conduct independent research as needed.
- Join senior staff on foundation, corporate and government entity meetings and participate in planning, cultivation, and stewardship activities, as requested.
- Contribute to Cadasta's business development and growth.
- Support Program Unit's report development and submission to donors.
- Support development of Communications Unit's written materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Writer will have:
- Be located anywhere but ideally within the Eastern Standard time zone or willing to adjust working hours to within 2-3 hours of this zone
- At least two (2) years of experience working in an international development setting (experience in international development and communications a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English (the ability to speak languages other than English is a plus).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to develop clear and convincing presentation materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
