ABOUT THE ROLE
The Managing Editor (OR Lead Writer) is responsible for writing and editing the full spectrum of marketing content for use in thought-leadership programs, media bylines, and multichannel industry campaigns. In collaboration with marketing and business stakeholders, this individual leads the creation of written material that articulates Sand Technologies’ value propositions in creative and effective ways. The Managing Editor (OR Lead Writer) is responsible for:
- Interviewing marketing leads, business leads and subject-matter experts to uncover the unique angles and ways to tell our clients’ and company’s compelling stories
- Writing and editing thought-leadership articles, case studies, webpages, reports, video scripts, emails, social-media posts, brochures and other materials that clearly and concisely communicate our business and marketing priorities
- Contributing his/her expertise and insights to inform an annual editorial calendar
- Maintaining a status update of individual assets from concept to completion
Success in this role requires hands-on experience writing and producing high-quality B2B marketing content. Understanding of Sand Technologies’ target industries and the competitive landscape of tech-services consultancies is a significant benefit. The Managing Editor (OR Lead Writer) uses this background to turn complex concepts into relevant, creative stories that are devoid of jargon, engage audiences and generate or nurture business leads.
Key performance indicators for this position include:
- Number and quality of marketing assets published on internal and external channels
- Audience engagement metrics (as an indicator of quality and perception)
- Time required to advance from content request to publication
- Adherence to agreed-upon deadlines and deliverables
- Ability to accommodate shifting priorities and evolving needs for marketing content
- Positive and collaborative approach to working with the Sand Technologies marketing team, including designer(s) and campaign, industry and event marketers
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years writing engaging marketing content, ideally with a focus on B2B technology
- Proven ability to follow editorial guidelines while adapting tone/style to accommodate individual authors in an on-brand way
- Expertise at uncovering a narrative’s unique angles based on interviews and research
- Track record of developing marketing content that strives to avoid jargon and buzzwords, yet still articulates complex tech issues while driving audience engagement
- Ability to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple assets at various stages of planning and execution
- Ability to work and deliver independently, with the flexibility to support global time zones
