The Head of People role will be a critical position that will oversee all aspects of human resources, including talent strategy, employee development, performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee relations at Carbo Culture. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of success in building and leading high-performing teams. In addition to having a deep understanding of HR best practices, we are looking for someone with a strong track record of working effectively with leaders across the organization to develop and implement HR initiatives that align with the company's overall business goals. This role will report directly to the CFO (Still to be hired).
Carbo Culture is a carbon removal technology developer on a mission to help mitigate climate change by permanently removing CO2. We’re headquartered in Helsinki with a subsidiary and ops in the UK and the US. Our team is largely remote, and we meet for team or company wide summits. We work closely together online across time zones using tools such as slack, zoom and the Google suite.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement the company's people strategy
- Build and maintain a culture of high performance and engagement
- Design and implement organizational structures and processes that support the company's strategic goals
- Manage workforce planning and progression frameworks in the team
- Ensure that the company has the right talent in the right roles at the right time
- Foster and nourish the culture that makes Carbo Culture a sought-out place to work
- Create an exciting and inclusive work environment for all employees
- Ensure that the company has a diverse and inclusive workforce
- Resolve employee issues and follow local law practices in procedures and compensation
- Oversee employee performance management and development
- Develop managers and team leads to be effective leaders through trainings, and group program
- Oversee planning of all-hands and smaller summits
- Develop and implement compensation and benefits programs that are competitive and aligned with the company's strategic goals
- Design and implement bonus modeling and total rewards strategies (including ESOPs)
- Manage the HR budget and HR technology systems and talent analytics
- Own the onboarding and offboarding processes and develop them to be best-in-class
Ideal candidate:
- 7+ years of experience in a senior HR role, preferably in a high-growth startup environment
- Great addition: Experience working with the industrial engineering or infrastructure industry
- Experience in international business environments, distributed teams, employee hubs. Great addition: Experience with managing Employer-of-Record setups and managing outsourced payroll globally
- Deep understanding of regulatory environments and reward systems
- Proven track record of success in building and managing high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
