Supabase is an Open Source and fully remote company building developer tools for databases.
We are seeking a FinOps Engineer to drive cost optimization and financial governance for our AWS infrastructure. This role will collaborate closely with engineering, finance, and operations teams to enhance cloud cost efficiency, establish best practices, and implement FinOps methodologies.
You will:
Analyze AWS and GCP billing, usage, and cost trends to identify optimization opportunities.
Implement cost-saving strategies, such as rightsizing, instance scheduling, reserved instances (RI), savings plans and Committed use discounts.
Establish tagging policies, cost allocation mechanisms, and chargeback/showback models.
Optimize data transfer costs, storage lifecycle policies, and networking expenses.
Monitor spot instances, auto-scaling, and compute savings opportunities.
Define and enforce FinOps best practices aligned with organizational objectives.
Collaborate with finance to forecast cloud expenses, create budgets, and track financial KPIs.
Work with engineering teams to align architecture decisions with cost efficiency.
Implement automated cost reporting, anomaly detection, and alerting mechanisms.
Utilize AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, AWS Trusted Advisor, AWS Cost & Usage Reports, GCP Billing Reports, Cost Tables, Committed Use Discounts Analysis, and Recommender API for cost insights.
Integrate third-party cost optimization tools
Develop automation scripts using AWS Lambda, Python, Terraform, or AWS SDKs to enforce cost policies.
Leverage FinOps dashboards and Tableau for visualization.
Work with our finance team to implement Continuous Accounting
You have:
Strong AWS and GCP expertise
Deep understanding of AWS and GCP pricing models, billing structures, and cost optimization techniques.
Experience with FinOps tools and cloud cost management platforms.
Automation & scripting skills (Python, Terraform, AWS Lambda, Bash, or CloudFormation).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes (EKS), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Ability to analyze cost data and present insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
Automation & scripting skills (Python, Terraform, AWS Lambda, Bash, or CloudFormation).
AWS Certified FinOps Practitioner or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner/Solutions Architect.
Previous experience in a FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud governance role.

If you pass the screen you will be invited to up to four follow-up interviews.
