JOB DESCRIPTION
Empower is seeking an experienced Consumer Compliance Testing Lead to drive execution of our enterprise-wide monitoring and testing plan. We’re looking for someone who knows the ins and outs of consumer protection regulations and how they apply to the deposit, early wage access, and consumer lending spaces. Our ideal candidate will bring creativity, thoughtfulness, and a high degree of organization and diligence to the role. We’re hiring strategic thinkers, not box checkers - compliance professionals who are excited to dive into our products, learn our business, and be strong ambassadors for the Compliance team.
Empower is a remote-first company. We drive connectivity through regular company offsites. Travel for company offsites is expected at a minimum 2 times a year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute risk-based regulatory compliance testing and evaluate control design and effectiveness
Develop, implement, and own compliance risk monitoring dashboards
Review policies, procedures, training materials, and various processes against regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Prepare well-written, concise, and actionable testing reports and distill key findings and action items into management and board reporting
Assist with the company’s compliance risk assessment process
Support company and team-wide initiatives to further mature the Compliance program
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of regulatory compliance experience, preferably in consumer lending
Experience conducting compliance monitoring and testing, including preparing testing scripts and workbooks, pulling system data, and drafting concise, impactful reports
Demonstrable expertise in consumer protection regulations, including ECOA, TILA, FCRA, SCRA, MLA, GLBA, FDCPA, UDAAP, among others
Ability to communicate complex regulatory concepts clearly and concisely to non-compliance individuals
Aptitude and interest for leveraging new technologies and quickly adapting to new tools and systems
SQL experience is a plus
Bachelor’s degree required
